Dientamoeba fragilis
INTRODUCTION
Dientamoeba fragilis is a single celled parasite, despite its name Dientamoeba fragilis its not an amoeba but flagellate found in the gastrointestinal tract of some humans, pigs and gorillas. In some people it causes gastrointestinal upset while in others it does not(1) It is an important cause of traveler’s diarrhea, chronic diarrhea, abdominal cramping and loss of appetite.
