Multiplex Real-Time PCR for detection of herpes simplex virus 1 & 2 and varicella-zoster virus – including internal control.

TESTPRINCIPLE AND PROCEDURE

• Extraction of nucleic acid from vesicle swabs and vesicle fluids. Swabs should be taken from fresh vesicles or vesicles that have recently crusted over
• High reliability: internal control (IC), which is introduced into the lysis buffer at the extraction stage of EACH specimen
• High safety: positive/negative controls are extracted
• Amplification and simultaneous detection of HSV1, HSV2, VZV and internal control in one tube

• Optimized primer and probe mix
• Positive and negative control
• Internal control for confirming sample extraction

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

• The test is available for use with the ABI 7500, Rotor-Gene 6000, Bio-Rad CFX96 and the LightCycler480.
• This assay has been fully validated on an ABI7500 with the AgPath-ID™ One-Step RT-PCR Kit (Ambion, cat # AM1005).
