Luminex® 200TM analyzer
Luminex® XMAP® technology works with microscopically small polystyrene beads, so-called microspheres or beads. Up to 100 different bead populations are available, which can be distinguished from each other by specific color coding. In addition to the classic MicroPlex beads, Mikrogen offers a new generation of polystyrene beads with an iron core (MagPlex®).
The Luminex® 200TM analyzer uses flow cytometry. The beads are separated via injection in the measuring cuvette and detected by two lasers focused on the particle beam in the measuring cuvette. A red laser identifies the color code of the beads, while quantitative detection takes place simultaneously via a second green laser. Both conventional MicroPlex beads and the new, magnetic MagPlex® beads can be used.
